Collection: TARIFFS
Tariffs are taxes ultimately paid by CONSUMERS on the imported items they purchase. They are initially paid by the businesses that import the goods, which are then passed along to consumers in the form of higher prices.
Since a vast majority of the new items I sell originate in China, a tariff on Chinese goods will need to be paid by me upon delivery of my shipments. I cannot absorb this extra expense, so I will be forced to raise my prices to cover the cost of tariffs. Since the amount of tariffs on Chinese goods seems to vary on a daily basis based on a whim, I will not be ordering any new Chinese products until the tariff rate is finalized.
I normally pre-order new models from the factory as soon as they are announced. The normal timeframe between the time a new model is announced and the time it is shipped to me is approximately four months. Given the present governmental chaos, there is no way for me to predict what I might have to pay in tariffs tomorrow, much less four months from now.
Ordering from a retailer in another country will not circumvent the taxes. The US Government does not care where the item is being SHIPPED FROM, it only cares about the COUNTRY OF ORIGIN. The only LEGAL way for a foreign-made article to enter this country BY ANY MEANS is to have a COUNTRY OF ORIGIN declaration.
The foreign seller will not include the tariff in the price of the item; your carrier will collect tariffs from you before they will deliver your item.
Items that are already in the US prior to implementation of tariffs will obviously not have any additional markup, so you may notice similar items with different prices for a while after tariffs take effect.
